BTS member V is returning to acting in the short film "That Night, Our Decaf," which Compose Coffee is set to release on April 10 through its official channels. The project places V in the male lead role and marks his first screen acting role since his 2016 drama debut.
V, whose real name is Kim Taehyung, first acted in the historical series "Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth," where he played Seok Han-sung, the youngest Hwarang and the last Seonggol heir in his clan. The character was written as warm, bright, and innocent, but also weighed down by family duty and his place in the Silla social order.
In "Hwarang," Han-sung stood out as a kind and easygoing member of the group. His story later turned tragic when he was killed while trying to protect another character, making the role one of the most memorable parts of V's early acting work, according to Koreaboo.
The new short film centers on a late-night café encounter and a quiet connection between two students. Teaser material shows V's character ordering decaf coffee and then noticing a woman who orders the same drink, setting up the story's central meeting.
Reports say the female lead is credited as Park Ji Min in teaser materials, a name that has caused confusion online because it matches several public figures in Korean entertainment, Nazaara Circle reported.
V has also remained active with BTS in recent months as the group continues its group work and individual schedules. BTS released its album "Arirang" on March 20, 2026, and the lead single "SWIM" arrived with an official music video.
V's return also comes after he completed South Korea's mandatory military service. Reports say he enlisted in December 2023 and was discharged on June 10, 2025, alongside RM, after about 18 months of service.
BTS's career began in 2013 when the group debuted under Big Hit Entertainment with the single album "2 Cool 4 Skool" and the lead track "No More Dream." The group started with a hip-hop focus and later expanded its sound and reach through releases such as "O!RUL8,2?" and "Dark & Wild," before becoming one of the most commercially successful Korean acts in the world, as per the Korea Herald.
