T-ara's Record Label CCM Explains Why K-Pop Sextet's Japanese Fan Website Sweet Treasures Will Be Shut Down In April

T-ara's Japanese fansite, known as Sweet Treasures, will be terminated in April, but that doesn't mean the end for the fan club, known as Sweet Treasures, according to the band's record label Core Contents Media (CCM).

"The contract for T-ara's fan club's operations will expire and this current fan club will be dissolved in April 2014," a message on the T-ara fan club's home page read.

"Membership registration and renewal will close on Nov. 31. The fan club and its site will close in April of next year."

Yet, that statement is only half true, a spokesperson for CCM told the publication STAR N News.

"It seems that such a rumor broke out, because of their website contract was expired," the record label spokesperson explained.

"The post is notifying that the contract for the current website will expire next year, and T-ara's fan club will be continued without any problem."

However, the statement on the Sweet Treasures website would appear to imply there could be a problem for any fan club members expecting to get their membership dues back.

"We will be making another announcement in April, but please be aware that membership fee cannot be refunded," the statement on the Sweet Treasure's home page added.

One anonymous CCM employee admitted to the publication Sports Seoul that the reason T-ara' Japanese fan club website was moving to a new domain was because the label decided to part ways with the company in charge of their Japanese promotion, J-Rock.

"We signed with our current agency J-Rock and managed T-ara's Japanese activities through them," the CCM employee said.

"But we have decided not to renew our contract with them this time which will expire on this coming April. Thus, the fan club and homepage that J-Rock operated will also be closed."

The label reportedly plans to handle their Japanese promotion in-house.

"We plan to manage [the Japanese fan club website for T-ara] through Core Contents Media's CCM Japan," the CCM exec said.

"Although the [current] fan club will not be automatically switched over to the new website, we plan to start one again."

The CCM rep added that the change in the fan club website would not affect any promotional plans for T-ara. The six-member K-pop girl group returned to the spotlight this week with a performance Thursday on the Mnet program "M!Countdown."

"This news also does not have any relationship with T-ara's promotion," the spokesperson said.

"T-ara will focus on their new promotion in Korea first, and then, head to Japan for their next promotion."
