Michael Schumacher Update: Prayers And Love Pour In For “Schumi;” Prolonged Coma May Affect Formula One Champion Adversely?

Michael Schumacher update is out and there's an outpouring of love and prayers for the seven-time F1 world champ whose prolonged coma is feared to have long-term effects on his health.

In a report by mid-day.com, fellow F1 racer Narain Karthikeyan recalled an incident where Michael Schumacher, who slipped into a coma after a skiing incident last December, showed his humility and grace.

When he debuted in Australia in 2005, a journalist asked Michael Schumacher during a press conference what he thought of Narain Karthikeyan as a "rookie Indian driver." To which Schumi replied: "I think he's doing a great job."

"Those inspirational words from the legend so early in my F1 career are unforgettable. It also showed Schumi's humility. I pray and hope he recovers soon," Karthikeyan said.

Dr. Didier Martin, chief neurosurgeon at CHU Liege, provided a Michael Schumacher update when he told Sudinfo.be that when a comatose patient is in a prolonged state, that means two possibilities: "Either there is a deterioration, or there is a positive development. But if there is progress, it is done over months, not days. A patient does not wake up once. It is a popular imaging and it is false," he said.

Meanwhile, while fans continue to wait for Michael Schumacher update, Jennie Gow of BBC collected messages and prayers for the recovery of the F1 champion.

"My deep thoughts for my boyhood hero. I pray every day to see him on his feet, making funny faces and winks to the world media," said Antonios Sakalis.

"Get well soon, Schumi-every F1 fan on the planet is rooting for you," Chrissie King wrote.

"We want you to win 92th and the greatest race of all time, We want to see you back in life, smiling, with your family with your fans," Mehmet Nuri Deveci chimed in.

"Keep fighting Michael, as you have always done!" Stuart Graham added.
