Maria Sharapova Boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov Missed French Open 2014 Women’s Singles Final: Is She Too Good For Him?

Maria Sharapova reclaimed her French Open championship in Women's Singles Finals. In the meantime, her boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov has been killing time before he's due at Wimbledon, watching Maria Sharapova from the cheap seats. But it looks like her success may have been too much for his male ego to take. He was missing from the Women's Singles finals, choosing to watch the game on his television rather than in person. Could it be that Maria Sharapova is now too busy and too good for her lackluster boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov?

As a EuroSport commentator remarked at the end of the match, French Open 2014 Women's Singles Finals was one of the best in decades. The 22-year-old Romanian Simona Halep played beautifully, to a point where it seemed like she may topple the tennis veteran Maria Sharapova. But the 2012 French Open champion pulled through and recaptured her title in a close three setter, 6-4, 6-7, 6-4.

As Maria Sharapova clutched her trophy in front of thousands in Court Philippe Chatrier, the mainstage of Roland Garros, the 23-year-old Grigor Dimitrov, who embarrassingly flunked out of this year's French Open in round 1, kept track of her victory via television. Like a good boyfriend would do, he congratulated her on Twitter for millions to see:

A close look at the picture revealed thin vertical lines, which means that Grigor took this picture from a television screen. Looks like the boyfriend wasn't invited to Court Philippe Chatrier by Maria Sharapova. Interestingly Maria Sharapova has not yet re-tweeted Grigor Dimitrov's thoughtful tweet. Yes, some people go totally offline when they are greeted with some fabulous news (like winning the French Open). But she definitely hasn't been the Twitter-sphere. Check out her private selfie with the trophy:

It may be that she is too busy (and successful) for her subpar tennis player boyfriend. When asked to explain his defeat in round 1 of French Open 2014, Grigor Dimitrov blamed "personal issues" for his quick exit. Whatever those "personal issues" were, let's hope they weren't relationship related!

Since his early defeat, Grigor Dimitrov has been spending his time promoting and modeling for his sponsor, Nike. He recently posted a picture on Instagram and wrote, "Happy to be part of this history! Let's creat the next chapter! @niketennis #justdoit"

Everyone in the tennis world knows just how competitive Maria Sharapova is. Here's to hoping that Grigor Dimitrov will athletically and mentally keep up with his girlfriend! Otherwise, he very well may fall behind.
