Chinese Agencies Rumored To Be Wary Of Ex-EXO Member Kris

EXO's former member Kris is allegedly struggling to find a place in the Chinese entertainment industry.

Korean media reports suggest that Wu Yi Fan, also known as Kris, is unable to find a new agency following his lawsuit against Korean record label SM Entertainment. The idol left EXO and SM Entertainment in May 2014.

Citing the Korean tabloid Sports DongA, The K-Pop Herald revealed that Kris has been facing difficulties finding a Chinese label, despite the fact that he left Korea five months ago.

It was previously reported that Kris was likely to sign with Hwai Brothers following a failure to sign with YUEHUA, both of which are major entertainment management companies in China. However, neither agency has signed the artist at this point.

In October, another Chinese member of EXO, Luhan, left SM Entertainment's idol group. There have been reports of claims that Chinese agencies scouted out the Chinese EXO members, but neither Kris nor Luhan have announced that they signed with a different agency since their departures from SM.

Despite being unsigned, Kris has started activities in China. He released "Time Boils The Rain," and has taken roles in two upcoming films. Luhan has also started taking on roles in China.

The Korean entertainment industry's popularity in China has led to many Chinese entertainment companies seeking collaborations and investing in the Korean entertainment field.

Sports DongA reported that Chinese entertainment agencies may be unwilling to sign on Kris, due to his ongoing lawsuit in South Korea. Kris's lawsuit is already heading towards court, but Luhan may not win his lawsuit, another factor that Chinese agencies are considering.

YUEHUA is a partner of Pledis Entertainment in South Korea, which represents several acts including After School and their popular sub-unit Orange Caramel as well as boy band NU'EST. YUEHUA currently represents another former SM Entertainment artist, Han Geng.

Huai Brothers is also heavily invested in the Korean market, and has a relationship with Starhaus Entertainment, which represents several actors including Hallyu star Lee Min Ho.
