G-Dragon Confirms Big Bang Comeback Album Will Be Delayed Until 2015

Big Bang's G-Dragon and Taeyang recently participated in a roundtable for media outlets in South Korea as part of their promotions for their sub-unit GD x Taeyang. During the interview session, G-Dragon addressed the timeline for the upcoming Big Bang album, and confirmed speculation that the group would finish out the year without a comeback.

Korean media outlet Enews provided the responses from G-Dragon and Taeyang from the roundtable in several articles on their site Mwave.

“I think the Big Bang album will be postponed until next year,” G-Dragon responded when asked about the group's highly anticipated comeback.

He then went on to address the concerns of fans, whose anticipation for Big Bang’s next album increased after G-Dragon previously stated that it would be released in 2014.

According to Enews, G-Dragon kept the exact time fram vague. “I′ve been talking about the comeback since last year, and because of what I said, I′ve been getting cursed at, so I can′t exactly say when it′ll be,” he explained. He followed this response with the explanation that he has been working on the Big Bang album and admitted that it may seem like he is making excuses about the delay.

In addition to his solo accomplishments as a rapper and producer, G-Dragon is the leader of Big Bang, the person in charge of representing the group in public and advocating for the other members within their agency, YG Entertainment. In recent years, he has been primarily responsible for the songwriting and production of the Big Bang’s releases.

The last studio release from Big Bang was the 2012 EP Alive. Alive yielded hit singles “Fantastic Baby,” “Blue,” and “Bad Boy.” Big Bang embarked on a successful world tour in support of “Alive” which included U.S. stops in New Jersey and Los Angeles.

Since 2012, there have been numerous successful solo releases from the members of Big Bang including Taeyang’s 2014 hit album Rise.

GD x Taeyang released “Good Boy” on November 21. The track achieved an all-kill on the Korean real time charts, while the video has reached more than six million views since its release.
