K-Pop Fans Anticipate WINNER Vs. EXO Rivalry After Video Teasers From Both Bands Emerge This Week

As 2014 draws to a close, K-pop groups are already preparing for their 2015 comebacks, and two names that have everyone's attention are SM Entertainment's EXO and YG Entertainment's WINNER.

On Wednesday, SM Entertainment revealed a video teaser indicating an impending comeback for EXO. When YG Entertainment released their own teaser image for WINNER two days later, observers immediately launched comparisons between the two.

According their respective teasers, both groups are planning comebacks in early 2015, which could build up a rivalry between them similar to Girls' Generation and 2NE1.

"If it's from YG then I wouldn't be surprised if he's bringing WINNER back to compete with EXO," commented cuban_nerd on allkpop. "He did that this year several times."

"I can see EXO vs. WINNER happening," wrote mslolipop112 on Friday.

Regarding EXO's video teaser, fans are particularly fascinated by the 12 marbles in the final image, with two still stuck inside the EXO logo maze.

"The end scene of the balls rolling out of the maze and two still caught up in there literally gave me goosebumps," said Hewlett Ho on YouTube. "There are so many ways to interpret it. Did the 10 remaining members find their freedom and sense of belonging? Are Luhan and Kris still stuck in a maze to represent their distance from EXO and are now choosing to find their own path and their own destiny without the support of the members?"

"Or are two new members going to be added to EXO and are finding their way through to make their appearance as part of EXO?"

Meanwhile, WINNER will be following up the release of their debut album, "2014 S/S."

"It took a year to find out WINNER's own style," said YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun Suk. "I put a lot of thought into what color clothes WINNER should wear and what type of songs and dance they have to present on the stage."
