Cha Tae-Hyun’s Latest Movie ‘Because I Love You’ Becomes Big Hit

Acclaimed actor Cha Tae-Hyun is still one of the most favorite actor in Korea. His latest movie “Because I Love You” becomes box-office in Korea and has been sold to 11 countries.
According to Korean Film Council, the movie “Because I Love You” becomes the first Korean movie in 2017 to enter international market and sold to 11 international territories for the first quarter of this year. The movie is slated to hit the theaters in United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand in January. Later on, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Macau in February, followed by other Asian territories such as Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan.
Recently, in an interview with Wow TV Cha said that he likes to play in the romantic comedy movie such as “Because I Love You.” The movie follows the story of a songwriter who was about to propose his girlfriend and had a car accident and fell into coma. He woke up and find himself in another person’s body.
Other actors, including Sung Dong-Il, Bae Sung-Woo and Kim You-Jung are the one whose body are taken over by Cha. So they must act as the Cha’s character, the songwriter Lee-Hyeong.
“I find the story very interesting,” Cha said. “But I only work with Kim You-Jung to get her into my character.”
Sung and Bae are two more senior actors than Cha, so he felt a bit reluctant to demonstrate his character to them. He allowed them to interpret Lee-Hyeong according to their own interpretation.
Cha is known to play roles in many romantic comedy movies. He even has his own signature genre which some critics called as “Cha Tae-Hyun comedy.” The romantic comedy which has a fun storytelling but a deep and heartwarming message.
The movie was produced by his elder brother Cha Ji-Hyun which has understood him well enough. Since its debut in Jan.4, within a week “Because I Love You” has grabbed 266,506 admission and grossing $1,765,859. It ranked 6th place in the Top 10 Box-Office list in Korea.
