On Feb. 22, a paparazzi in China spotted (G)I-DLE member Yuqi going to and from the apartment complex of GOT7 member Jackson. They said that a driver employed by the male idol picked her up at a hotel and brought her to the apartment.

On Feb. 23, Jackson Wang's studio released an official statement to respond to the dating news.
The studio stated that it was only common for friends to pay a visit to each other's residences and criticized the paparazzi for causing misunderstandings.

The studio began their statement by saying, "Recently, independent media account 'Photographer Liu Da Chui' took advantage of the influential power of the agency's artist Mr. Wang Jia Er (Jackson)."
They added that the video clips were cut and put together to purposely twist the truth.

They further said that the paparazzi used several phrases such as "spent the night," "rose," "two beautiful ladies," "drove her to Wang Jia Er's home" and "you guys understand, I don't need to say more" just to mislead the public and make GOT7 Jackson look like he's dating (G)I-DLE Yuqi.
"This was done to draw attention to a hidden agenda. It's normal for friends to gather at Wang Jia Er's home," the studio continued.

They went on to say that the independent media account not only invaded the singer's privacy but also damaged his reputation. Because of this, the company has filed a police report to protect GOT7 Jackson's rights through public safety agencies and promote a "clean and safe online environment."
Jackson Wang's studio also said, "We believe the law is serious and just, and will not allow criminals to think that they can escape from violations. We genuinely thank everyone once again for the continuous attention and love for Mr. Wang Jia Er."
