On March 8, DJ Koo Jun Yup, also known as half of the first-generation duo CLON, took to his personal Instagram account to make a surprise announcement.

In the letter he wrote, the veteran singer shared that he plans on marrying Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, who is widely known for her role as Shan Cai in the Taiwanese series "Meteor Garden."
Koo Jun Yup began his message by revealing, "I'm getting married. I intend to tie the knot with my girlfriend from 20 years ago."

He continued that he heard about Barbie Hsu's divorce and so he quickly searched for her number from 20 years ago and contacted her. "Fortunately, her number was still the same," he stated.
The "Pick Me" producer explained that they are already at an age where they cannot waste their time with no particular purpose, hence, he suggested that they get married, and luckily, she said yes.

"So, we will be living together after registering our marriage. Please congratulate me on my late marriage," Koo Jun Yup concluded.
The Taiwanese actress also shared the news through her Instagram account. She reposted the Korean singer's post and wrote, "Life is transient, and I cherish the fleeting moments of happiness. I thank you for taking me to where I am now."

Koo Jun Yup and Barbie Hsu's marriage announcement comes after the latter's divorce from her former husband, who is a Chinese businessman, in November 2021.
Reportedly, the couple plans to issue a local report in Taiwan about their marriage in mid-March. It is also said that the Korean DJ is set to leave for Taiwan to meet Barbie Hsu and plans to return to Korea after a few months of honeymoon.
Regarding his plans to depart from Korea, Koo Jun Yup said, "The situation right now makes me cautious, but I am happy. I hope that many people give us blessings."

The two celebrities met 20 years ago when Koo Jun Yup received an invitation from Taiwanese singer Tarcy Su to perform at her concert, which Barbie Hsu attended.

During his appearance on "Radio Star" back in 2010, the Korean singer said that the actress fell in love with him after watching his performance. "That's how we started dating," he shared.
Koo also revealed that Barbie had a tattoo of the word "Koo," as proof of her love for him. However, their relationship only lasted for about a year.
After that, the "Meteor Garden" star married Wang Xiaofei and Koo decided to keep his distance from her to protect his ex-lover.

Through a media outlet, Koo Jun Yup confessed that he was nervous at the time he was contacting her following her divorce. Fortunately, he received a warm greeting from her.
"We stayed in touch for months. I really wanted to see her, but I couldn't enter Taiwan unless I was a family member because of the pandemic restrictions," he continued.

Koo Jun Yup then revealed how he proposed to Barbie Hsu. He said, "Then I got the courage first. I suggested, 'How about becoming a family before it's too late?' That's the only way we can see one another. Gladly, she told me she likes it too."
