NINE.i Draws Flak for Including Imagery of Civil War, Holocaust, More in Prologue Film

On March 9, NINE.i shared a video to their YouTube channel titled "PROLOGUE FILM [THE BIRTH OF NEW ALGORITHM]."

The video, which is just under five minutes, is a film that gives viewers a glimpse into their concert and story.

The video has drawn backlash after a portion of the video uses imagery featuring civil war, the Holocaust, black oppression, and more.

In addition, several public figures, such as Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr., are seen in clips of the film.

Clips of war, riots, and rallies were also used in the teaser. Several of the clips feature clips from the 1950s and 1960s, where people are rallying against black oppression and for women's rights.

Other videos showed Concentration Camps during The Holocaust in Nazi Germany. Meanwhile, some scenes showed war and oppression of human rights.

The video sparked a huge backlash, with many shocked and accused the debuting group of using historical events as aesthetic. Others were angered that the trauma of people and a nation was used to form a concept for a K-pop group.

Moreover, they pointed out that the video do not offer any substantial input on these events, and remains superficial and performative.

As a result, many shared the footage to social media sites, such as TikTok and Twitter.

NINE.i's company, FirstOne Entertainment, quietly deleted and replaced the clip from the debut trailer. They also deleted the original tweet promoting the short film, which included a short video from the video.

However, FirstOne Entertainment has not released a statement on the matter. Instead, the company is continuing to promote NINE.i's debut, and releasing promotional content for the group. They are also sharing articles about the group's upcoming debut later this month.

The group members have also not released a statement on the matter.
