NewJeans 'Super Shy' Crowned Billboard's Best K-Pop Song of 2023.

On December 28, Billboard released their annual "The 25 Best-Kpop Songs" list. This year saw a wide variety of releases, from laid-back listening experiences to classic pop production. Among the hundreds of songs released this year, one song rose to the number one spot.

And that song is NewJeans' mega-hit, "Super Shy."

2023 was definitely NewJeans' year. The girl group kicked off the year with the catchy viral track "OMG," which was swiftly followed by the group's second EP, "Get Up."

Hailing from the said album, "Super Shy" features a refreshing take on drums, bass, and juke music, which is highly reminiscent of music from the late '90s and early 2000s.

The song is bubbly and upbeat. Lyrically, Haerin, Danielle, Hanni, Minji, and Hyein sing about being too timid to confess to their budding love interest, despite desperately wanting to share their hearts' desires.

Beside the catchy melody, its accompanying flash mob-style choreography is perfectly suited for dance challenges and video covers, which helped boost the song's popularity online.

Besides "Super Shy," "OMG" also made Billboard's list, ranking at number 23.
