As any music listener knows, there's a different tune for every type of moment.

And while much of pop music has to do with getting pumped up and getting on the dance floor, any K-pop fan looking just wanting to mellow out, while avoiding a melodramatic power ballad, should check out Lim Kim's new single "Like You Know It All."

Clocking in at over five minutes, the song's strong backbeat provides a rock solid foundation for an excellent performance by the band backing up the singer, and undeniably sets a mood.

It is refreshing to hear live musicians on the song including a powerful rock drummer, on a K-pop track.

It is a sound that is all too rare, yet a potent weapon when used well.

It is the sound of the band, particularly the drum and guitar parts, that is beautifully reminiscent of early Radiohead albums like "The Bends."

And while this is sonic territory that bands like Coldplay have already milked to the tune of millions of dollars, Kim has her own take on channeling the greatest art rock band of our time that is original and quite moving.

She seems to have a very personal connection with the material.
Lim Kim, whose real name is Kim Ye Rim, started the solo project as a way to continue to create music while her Two Months bandmate Do Dae Yoon finishes his high school education.

Two Months was the second place runner up in the 2011 South Korean reality show "Superstar K."

Kim's vocals on "Like You Know It All" as they are on all the Lim Kim material, are stunning because of how unforced and un-showy they are.

She sings like she has nothing to prove, instead preferring to lay back and let the emotion pour out of her.

With all the attention the female half of Two Months has been getting as Lim Kim, she is threatening to overshadow her band's successes with her solo career.

Some of that attention has been due to the sexy nature of her music videos for the Lim Kim material.

Yet at a showcase on Tuesday, the singer said the sizzling images, like her revealing outfit in her teaser video for the song "All Right" are all done in hope of gaining listeners.

"I just thought that was suitable for the teaser, to give an idea of what my song is about," Kim told the Chosun Ilbo.

"It drew considerable attention, but I hope people focus more on my music."

A reasonable request, considering the Lim Kim material is worth focusing on and Kim Ye Rim is way more than just another pretty face.
