Heechul Explains How He Ended Up On 'The Heirs': 'I'm A Certified Check For Ratings' Super Junior Singer Boasts

It always helps to have a pop star as a drinking buddy.

Kim Eun Sook, the writer of the popular new South Korean drama "The Heirs" found a powerful television ally in Super Junior singer Heechul when the two struck up a friendship in a bar three years ago, according to the publication eNEWS.

On Thursday's episode of the Joongang Tongyang Broadcasting Company talk show "Ssulzun," Heechul revealed that it was his friendship with Kim that led to his surprise cameo on this week's episode of "The Heirs."

"After the first episode of 'The Heirs' came out, she called and said, 'I did an interview for you, so you make a cameo,'" the Super Junior singer said.

He joked that his appearance on the show meant an automatic boost in ratings.

"I filmed it yesterday, because I'm a certified check for ratings," Heechul said.

The singer also elaborated on his cameo on "The Heirs" on his Twitter account.

"I filmed a cameo appearance for 'The Heirs' after making a deal with Kim Eun Sook," Heechul wrote, apparently alluding to the same interview the writer had done for him.

The Super Junior star, even claimed credit for some of the lines on the show.

Meanwhile, on the set of "The Heirs," a Japanese fan club for lead actor Lee Min Ho dropped off more than 100 healthy lunches on Friday for the cast and crew of the show.

"A buffet good for your kidneys," read a note from the Japanese fans, in a reference to a line on the show.

It's not the first time fans of Lee Min Ho have shown their love for the actor with food.

Last month, when "The Heirs" was filming in Los Angeles during the Korean harvest festival of Chuseok, the actor's fans sent him and the crew traditional rice cakes for the holiday.

And the generosity of Lee Min Ho's fans doesn't just extend to the cast and crew of "The Heirs."

Fans of the actor left 12 tons of rice, along with wreathes and posters, in the lobby of Seoul Broadcasting System offices on Monday, to celebrate the actor's new series "The Heirs" premiere on Oct. 9.

The rice donated was reportedly enough to feed 100,000 people and came from fans as far away as Turkey, Mexico and Argentina.

The donations were done through several different nonprofit organizations, including the Dream For Lee Min Ho Foundation that included ornate wreathes and blown-up photos of the actor with their donations.
