Super Junior's Revolving Doors: Leeteuk Asks Fans To Support Group As Yesung Returns and More Members Head To Army

As one member of Super Junior returned to civilian life after serving in the military, another member asked for support as more departures to the military appear imminent.

On May 4, Super Junior’s Yesung (Kim Jong Woon) returned to civilian life following nearly two years fulfilling his mandatory South Korean military service acting as a public service worker. He will join Super Junior KRY, a subgroup composed of Yesung, Kyuhyun, and Ryeowook, for a summer concert tour in Japan.

Fans worldwide caused the trend #YesungIsBack to appear on Twitter after Yesung shared pictures and videos of himself and members of Super Junior on a variety of social media accounts to confirm his comeback.

Even as one member of Super Junior returned from the army in 2015, two members of the group entered the military earlier in the year and a message by Super Junior’s leader Leeteuk implied that additional members will begin their service in 2015.

“Were you waiting?” asked Super Junior’s leader on Instagram. “Now Yesung is back. Though some members are leaving, please keep waiting! From now on, it really starts…”

Leeteuk also included “waiting” and “we will wait” as hashtags on the post. The photo depicts him holding a fan sign saying the same message.

The request came ahead of potential announcements from SM Entertainment regarding the timeline of further departures from Super Junior. Members Donghae and Eunhyuk are expected to be the next Super Junior members to join the army in 2015 or 2016 at the latest.

South Korea requires about two years of military service from all able bodied males by the age of 30. Super Junior has stayed active while some members perform their civic duty; Yesung is the fourth member to complete his service, following after Kangin, Heechul, and Leeteuk.

Super Junior’s Shindong and Sungmin entered the South Korean military in February, around the same time as several other high profile Korean celebrities.
