'Pitch Perfect 3' Release Date Confirmed! Film To Start Production Early Next Year
A release date for "Pitch Perfect 3" has been announced, as filming starts early next year, according to cast member Rebel Wilson.
Wilson who plays "Fat Amy" in the series, revealed to Ellen Degeneres that production for the much-anticipated third installment will begin production by early 2016, according to Christian Post.
The actress also confirmed on her Instagram that "Pitch Perfect 3's" official release date.
Meanwhile, Variety has confirmed that Elizabeth Banks, the second installment's director will return to helm the third movie, which will be distributed by Universal and Gold Circle. The actress-turned-director will team up with producers Paul Brooks and Alex Handelman, and screenwriter Kay Cannon.
The report also claims that the "Hunger Games" actress is branching out as a director, circling projects such as the upcoming "Charlie's Angels" reboot, as well as the adaptation of fantasy novel, "Red Queen."
Little is known about the upcoming movie's plot, although various sources including Screen Rant speculate that "Pitch Perfect 3" will pick up with the former members of the Bellas a cappella group "as they adjust to their life after college, before a turn of events leads them to reunite - possibly, to help guide Emily (Hailee Steinfeld) and the next generation of Bellas."
The first film starred Anna Kendrick as Beca, Rebel Wilson as Patricia a.k.a. Fat Amy, Brittany Snow as Chloe, Anna Camp as Aubrey, Elizabeth Banks a Gail, Hana Mae Lee as Lily, Ester Dean as Cynthia Rose, Alexis Knapp as Stacie, Adam Devine as Bumper, Ben Platt as Benji, Skylar Astin as Jesse and John Michael Higgins as John.
The franchise holds the record for the highest grossing musical-comedy of all-time.
With its release date in mind, the movie "Pitch Perfect" was adapted from Mickey Rapkin's book "Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory."
