Fans may be focused on what role Dr. Jekll will be playing in the upcoming season of "Penny Dreadful," but there's plenty of other mysterious characters that will be appearing in the new episodes.

Specifically, what's up with Ethan's new mysterious yet close friend Kaeternay?

Earlier this week, on set producer Christopher King updated his twitter with a new photo from the set of "Penny Dreadful" season three. The new potential "Penny Dreadful" season three spoiler photo features a first look at Wes Studi as the Native American character Kaeternay. Fans can check it out below.

Variety describes Wes Studi's "Penny Dreadful" season three character as follows:

"The 'Hell on Wheels' and 'Red Road' alum plays Kaetenay, an intense, enigmatic Native American with a deep connection to Ethan (Josh Hartnett). He also becomes an ally to Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton)."

As last season fans know, Ethan is headed back to the United States as a result of finally being caught by the bounty hunters looking for him. Since he will likely be imprisoned, perhaps Kaeternay and Sir Malcolm will be the ones to help him escape. Moreover, given the historical connection between wolves and Native Americans, perhaps Kaeternay will be the one to help Ethan understand or control his shifting powers.

"Penny Dreadful" season three was renewed for a third season shortly after the second season ended. The series also was recently nominated for a 2016 Golden Globe award. Specifically, main actress Eva Green was nominated for the Best Actress category.

For those not familiar with "Penny Dreadful," it is a TV series that airs on Showtime and follows the life of Vanessa Ives, a magical and beautiful woman who is constantly plagued by dark forces who desire to consume her. Joined by her best friend's father Sir Malcolm and American sharp shoot Ethan Chandler, the three attempt to navigate the darkness of the underworld in search of freedom for life in the light.
