'Arrow' Actor Stephen Amell Open To Play A Marvel Character; Actor To Jump Ship After Fifth And Final Season?

"Arrow" actor Stephen Amell claims he's open to play a Marvel character.

Amell, 34, who currently plays the title hero in the DC comic book-based series "Arrow" opened up on the possibility of headlining a Marvel film.

In a Q&A session on his Facebook page, Amell declared he'd be open to play a character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, if the opportunity came his way.

"Sure, why not? I'm up for roles - movie roles - although I've never really read Marvel Comics and I was always a DC guy even before I was a DC guy," Amell explained. "But it's not like if I got offered an awesome Marvel superhero, I'd be like 'No, I can't.'"

According to Screen Rant, Amell making the jump to Marvel could be a smart move for the actor's career as he nears the end of his contract with "Arrow." As the show returns to TV with its fourth season in January, Amell admits that the series was designed to only last five seasons, although there's a possibility that it could be extended to a sixth or even a seventh season.

Meanwhile, Amell has already joined a comic book-based property outside of DC's "Arrow." The actor will appear in the reboot sequel "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows" as the hockey-masked sports club-wielding Casey Jones.

"Just from looking at my appearance-as opposed to what comic book fans have come to expect from Casey Jones-we are meeting Casey in this movie at a very different point," Amell said of his character in a statement published by Science Fiction. "The Casey that we met in the previous live-action films was a finished product. I'm doing a completely different job (at this point in the story) than I am by the end of the movie."

"I like it because it's very much an origin story for my character. It's certainly not the centerpiece of the movie. But for me personally, I like finding a character in a phase of discovery."

"Arrow" returns to CW on Jan. 20, 2016. "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows" releases in theaters on June 3, 2016.
