Tom Hardy Talks About Losing His Role In 'Suicide Squad'; Says He 'Hates Losing Work'

"Revenant" actor Tom Hardy is still unhappy after missing out on Warner Bros.' "Suicide Squad.

Last year, the "Suicide Squad" cast several A-listers to their roster - which included Jared Leto as the Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Tom Hardy as Rick Flag. It would also mark Tom Hardy's second time to play a character in a WB/DC superhero film, having previously appeared in "The Dark Knight" rises two years prior.

However, shortly after the final cast was announced, Hardy was forced to give up his role due to scheduling conflicts with "The Revenant," giving up his role to replacement Joel Kinnaman (Run All Night, Robocop).

During a promotional on the release of "The Revenant" with Variety, Hardy explains how he dropped out of "Suicide Squad."

"It punched right into that, yeah. That got derailed for me," Hardy explained. "Was I bummed? Of course I was. I hate f-king losing work. I kept bemoaning that they were losing me significant money on a daily basis. Actually, it was good for my character.

According to Screen Rant, Hardy plays John Fitzgerald, the main antagonist in the Alejandro J. Iñárritu directed film. Filming for the movie took 3 months longer than expected due to severe weather conditions.

Below is "The Revenant's" synopsis by Twentieth Century Fox.

"Inspired by true events, THE REVENANT captures one man's epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team," reads the plot summary. "In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption."

"The Revenant" releases on Jan. 8, 2016. Warner Bros.' "Suicide Squad" arrives on Aug. 5, 2016.
