Running Man Won't Be Cancelled, Says SBS

Following a series of controversies and reports of discontinuation, it would seem that Running Man isn't ready to let go just yet as it is announced that the show is officially un-cancelled. It had earlier been announced that Running Man, which first started airing back in 2010, would finally be ending. However, the producers of the hit show seemingly had a change of heart as they announce that Running Man would continue airing and to top it all off, the show will retain its six cast members!

According to Koreaboo, the issue with Running Man first began when it was announced in December that cast members Kim Jong Kook and Song Ji Hyo were given the boot from the show. Their removal caused much controversy and the producers of the show faced a major backlash from the public especially when they found out how Song Ji Hyo locked herself in a bathroom. It was then announced that the show would be ending after seven fruitful years.

It should be noted that the show's final episode had already aired this January while the remaining episodes will be focusing on each of the cast members including Gary, who had earlier left the show. These special episodes were ultimately meant as a farewell to the fans and with this announcement fans of Running Man would definitely be delighted to know that their favorite show is here to stay.

An excerpt from SBS' announcement regarding the matter says, "Because of the sadness caused by the cancellation of Running Man to its local and international fans, it has been decided that the series would continue on with all of its six casts."

Allkpop reports that Nam Seung Yong of SBS even thanked the fans for their support of the long-running show, promising to make it more enjoyable and exciting for the fans.
