AKMU Suhyun Releases Lyrics And Teaser for Solo Debut Track "ALIEN"

On the October 13, YG Entertainment's official blog released Lee Suhyun's "ALIEN" Lyric poster and sampler video.

Her styling is like that of a typical tomboy and is unique as she has never been seen in this light before. Suhyun's style along with her strong personality,right from the electric blue coloured hair tied up in pigtails, colourful accessories, a t-shirts with aliens on it, and long-sleeved undershirt, at once was able to garner the attention of the viewers.

Besides, the phrase "ALIEN born like a secret / in the deep and distant darkness" was showcased on the poster, raising expectations and further curiosity. Also, YG raised fans' expectations by releasing sampler videos or teasers containing part of Lee Suhyun's song "ALIEN" one after the other.

Fans expect that Lee Suhyun's unprecedented transformation in her solo work will be markedly different from AKMU's activities.

"ALIEN", which will be released at 6 PM KST on the 16th, will be the first solo song released by Lee Suhyun after 6 years of debut. AKMU Lee Chan Hyuk was named the lyricist and composer, and he even took charge of the main production, hoping for another masterpiece.

Lee Suhyun is an immensely popular and talented South Korean singer. Following her appearance and win on the second installation of SBS audition program "K-pop Star" alongside her brother, she debuted as the vocalist of the sibling duo AKMU on April 7, 2014 under YG Entertainment. Alongside Lee Hi, she is also part of the sub-unit Hi Suhyun, formed in 2015.

When it comes to television, she has appeared as a series regular on reality music programs, including 'Begin Again' as well as a judge on the audition program 'Superband.' Lee also became a YouTuber through her channel, 'Leesuhyun,' and a Radio DJ for KBS Cool FM radio station, 'AKMU Suhyun's Volume Up,' where she received her first award at the 16th KBS Entertainment Awards for "Radio DJ Award." She has also sung OSTs for Korean television dramas such as 'It's Okay to Not Be Okay,' and the Disney live-action film 'Mulan.'

Upon release, the original soundtrack of It's Okay To Not Be Okay, "In Your Time," rose to number one on South Korean music streaming platforms including Genie and Bugs on July 14. Domestically, the soundtrack also peaked at number 31 on the Gaon Digital Chart and number 33 on the Billboard Korea K-Pop 100 chart. The soundtrack was physically released within the It's Okay to Not Be Okay OST album on August 13.

She sang the Korean version of 'Reflection' for 'Mulan.' She's very well-loved by her senior artists and appreciated her talent by the entire Korean industry.

On September 4, Korean media outlets reported that Suhyun would make her official solo debut within the fall of 2020. Her label responded by asking listeners to anticipate an official announcement soon.

In regards to her solo debut, she said, previously through JTBC variety program, Knowing Bros that despite her brother leaving songs for her to release during his military enlistment, the singer revealed that she refused to use music produced by him and instead would rather take time until she was fully satisfied with the outcome, and in result release her own work.

Later, YG Entertainment announced that Suhyun would officially debut as a solo artist with the single "Alien" on October 16.
