TVXQ's Kim Junsu Joins MONSTA X’s Minhyuk on the 'VogueShip Show'

Total performer Kim Junsu (XIA) is the first guest on the Naver NOW program "VogueShip Show," hosted by MONSTA X's Minhyuk, in its new Wednesday timeslot.

On its first broadcast on Wednesday, Nov. 11, after moving from its previous Thursday evening timeslot, Minhyuk was able to meet one of his role models. Upon meeting Kim Junsu, a former member of the boy group TVXQ back in the late 2000s, Minhyuk could not hide his excitement - treating MONBEBEs to memorable moments from the vocalist.

For MONBEBEs, Minhyuk's admiration for the five-piece boy group, especially to Junsu, is not a secret. In fact, the MONSTA X vocalist and visual admitted it in a 2018 interview with Korean news outlet Star Daily News. "I used to really like TVXQ. I found TVXQ Xiah Junsu's player on the internet, and I listened to Junsu every day," Minhyuk said.

In his "VogueShip Show" appearance, Junsu sang a part of "Tonight," the 2005 TVXQ hit song from their sophomore album "Rising Sun." Junsu's brief performance, with Minhyuk joining in for a few notes, definitely sent shivers to both MONBEBEs and Cassiopeia - TVXQ's official fan base

In a display of their timeless vocal qualities, Junsu and Minhyuk also performed "Love No More," his 2020 single used as the OST for the webtoon "Romance 101: A." The song comes after a program listener wrote in the request for a "Genie Time" - Junsu's iconic segment during their shows and concerts where he "grants" a fan's wish. With the show's host chiming in with the same wish, Junsu was their Genie and granted the wish. The MONSTA X member visibly gushed upon hearing his sunbae clap at his performance.

Kim Junsu, also known by his stage name XIA, first debuted as one of the original members of TVXQ. In 2009, he and two other members of the boy group - Jaejoong and Yoochun - challenged their contract with SM Entertainment in a legal battle that ended in November 2012 with a mutual decision to release the three talents. The former TVXQ members then formed JYJ - from their initials.

Junsu released his first Korean full-length solo album, "Tarantallegra," in May 2012. Since then, he has released three more solo albums: "Incredible" (2013), "Flower" (2015), and "Xignature" (2016).

On February 9, 2017, Kim Junsu began his 21-month mandatory service under the South Korean military, ending his service on November 5, 2018. After his military service, he immediately returned to promoting and music. He has also returned to his theater work, portraying Death in the 2019 production of the musical "Elizabeth" as well as King Arthur, the lead in the historical musical "Xcalibur," performed at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Seoul.

On November 10, Junsu released his solo album in four years, the mini-album "Pit a Pat," released under his stage name XIA. His latest mini-album has also been the subject of a fan petition that endeavors to include the artist and his album in music show appearances, including KBS' "Music Bank."
