'Hospital Playlist' Star Jung Kyung-ho Teams Up with KCC to Tell Filipinos 'Kaya natin to!'

While K-Dramas have offered comfort and escape in the challenging times of the global coronavirus pandemic, Jung Kyung-ho took the extra mile to give back to his Filipino fans and tell them "Kaya natin to!" (We can do it!).

The Korean actor, who portrayed the medical professional Kim Jon-wan in tvN's medical drama series "Hospital Playlist," sent his personal message in recognition of the Filipino frontliners working around the clock against the pandemic.

"First of all, I really appreciate all of your support on the Hospital Playlist. It's so nice to greet and meet you all," Jung Kyung-ho began. "I heard that the medical staff and other people in the Philippines are also suffering a lot due to the pandemic." Humbly noting his "short message," the 37-year-old actor extended his "sincere hope that this will give you strength and comfort."

Expressing sympathy to the Filipino frontliners, Jung added that he and the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines "will cheer for your bright future!"

K-Healing: Overcome Together

Jung Kyung-ho's heartwarming message comes at the end of the "K-Healing: Overcome Together Mini Concert." The live-streamed concert serves as the culmination of the Korean Cultural Center's K-Healing campaign, which aims to recognize exceptional Filipino service and resilience stories in the middle of the pandemic.

For the entire month of October, the KCC in the Philippines received more than 156 nominations, including about 900 Filipino frontline workers across the Southeast Asian archipelago. Aside from medical professionals, nominations also included law enforcement officers and first responders such as police, military, and fire prevention workers. The nomination process also saw recognition for teachers, drivers, security guards, and janitors, including areas as far as Davao City in the south and Puerto Princesa City in the west. Chosen nominees received a "K-Healing" package from the KCC.

In the "K-Healing: Overcome Together Mini Concert," prominent Filipino personalities such as chef and food columnist Reggie Aspiras and TV and film director Joey Reyes shared what Korea means to them. Reyes shared his experiences meeting Korean students in the Philippines and her experience directing a movie that starred Sandara Park, years before she became known as 2NE1's Dara.

The virtual concert treated fans to a vocal performance by the South Korean crossover group Forestella, who performed "Ties." It was followed by a number from singer Lim Kim, best known as a finalist in the Superstar K3 singing competition, performing her single "A Visualized Dream" accompanied by the Korean traditional stringed instrument gayageum.
