BLACKPINK Lisa, TWICE Momo, and More: Japanese Teens Select the Most Popular Female Idols in Japan
Japanese entertainment publication PGR21 recently dropped a list titled "Japanese Teenage Girls Select The Most Beautiful K-Pop Girls, Ranked." The publication released the results of a poll taken by Japanese teens to select the most popular female idols in Japan. Keep on reading to see who made the top 20!
BLACKPINK Lisa Sits at Number One
This Thai idol proved she is a force to be reckoned with! Already famous in South Korea, China, and Thailand, BLACKPINK member Lisa is proving that she is Asia's latest "It Girl" by ranking at number one in this poll, where Japanese teenage girls selected her as the most beautiful K-pop idol.
Previously, Lisa ranked at number 20 on Japan's most popular K-pop voting website Nehan's list for most popular female idols in Japan for the first week of Feb.
Currently, Lisa is working as the dance mentor for the Chinese boy group survival program, "Youth With You Season 3," also known as "Youth With You 3." She was previously the dance mentor for the last season, which featured female trainees, titled "Youth With You Season 2," or simply known as "Youth With You 2."
Lisa is often praised for her beauty. In TC Candler's "100 Most Beautiful Faces of 2020," Lisa ranked at number 2, making it her highest position on TC Candler's annual list. Her beauty and popularity have scored her numerous brand deals. She is currently the global ambassador for French fashion house Celine, Italian luxury brand Bvlgari, and New York-based high-end cosmetics brand, MAC Cosmetics.
TWICE Momo Snags Second Place
Trailing after Lisa is Kobe-native Momo from TWICE!
Previously, Momo ranked at number 6 in Japan's most popular K-pop voting website Nehan's most popular female idol of the first week on Feb. list. She is one of three Japanese members of TWICE and is often praised for her anime-like visuals and her quirky personality.
According to Gallup Korea's annual music polls, in 2018, Momo was named the 20th most popular idol in South Kora. This makes Momo one of the most popular foreign idols in the country. Her popularity (as well as the other Japanese members of TWICE) has been credited to improving South Korea and Japan's relationship. In 2019, Momo was selected as the 10th most popular female idol with soldiers partaking in their mandatory military service.
Momo is often praised for her gorgeous figure, as well as for her sharp and swift dance movements. Due to her dance skills, she is often nicknamed "Dance Machine" and is often described as being TWICE's best dancer.
