Blue House Petition to Ban Activities of Chinese Idols in Korea Amasses 10,000+ Signs Following NCT Dream Controversy

As backlash to NCT Dream's recent controversy, several Koreans are taking it far by signing a Blue House Petition to ban Chinese idols, particularly SM Entertainment's Renjun, Chenle, EXO Lay, and more.

Recently, NCT Dream members were embroiled for their "insincere" attitude on a radio show. It is already controversial, but due to the Chinese members who greeted the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China, the issue escalated, and that some Koreans started signing petitions to ban Chinese Idols in Korea.

NCT Dream Attitude Controversy, Congratulatory Message to China's Communist Party

On July 2, NCT Dream appeared on KBS Cool FM's "DAY6's Kiss the Radio" as part of their promotion to their repackage album, "Hello Future."

However, members were suddenly caught under fire as some viewers noticed their presumed inappropriate attitude in the live radio broadcast.

As a result, the video comment section and related communities are flooded with criticisms, pointing out NCT Dream's attitude towards their seniors, DAY6.

As more internet users dig into the issue, it was also shared that some Chinese members including Renjun and Chenle have been on the domestic broadcasting stage after congratulating the Communist Party of China for their 100th anniversary.

Apparently, Koreans pointed out that the Chinese-born K-pop idols posted just a few days after the 71st anniversary of the Korean War.

In addition, criticisms grew as Chinese idols working in Korea referred to the Korean War as "The war to resist America and aid Korea" war.

This includes SM Entertainment artists NCT Dream Renjun and Chenle, EXO Lay, f(x) Victoria, aespa NingNing, and WayV. If the petition will blow up, it will also affect other Chinese idols including GOT7 Jackson, (G)I-DLE Yuqi, SEVENTEEN The8, Jun, and more.

The petitioner explained, "If we don't stop Chinese idols from doing so, the Korean entertainment industry will be a base for nurturing Chinese idols."

The past anecdote said by SM Entertainment's Lee Soo Man also received furrowed brow when he implied in a lecture to Harvard MBA students in June 2017, "Where will Hollywood be in the East? Everyone says the same thing. It's China."
