'BLACKPINK The Movie' Rakes in Half a Million Moviegoers in Just Five Days, to Premiere in Additional Countries

In celebration of their fifth year anniversary, BLACKPINK released their own movie, which had since then raked over half a million moviegoers.

'BLACKPINK The Movie' Rakes in Half a Million Moviegoers in Just Five Days 

According to media outlets on August 11 KST, BLACKPINK's movie, "BLACKPINK The Movie," which was released back on August 4 to commemorate the four-member group's fifth anniversary since their debut, had accumulated over half a million moviegoers around the world, just five days after its release.

"BLACKPINK The Movie" was released exclusively in CVG cinemas at South Korea, and is being screened through various formats, including special theaters such as ScreenX and 4DX.

The release of the special BLACKPINK movie is garnering a lot of attraction in more than a hundred countries and over 3,000 theaters around the world.

Among the 100 countries in the world screening "BLACKPINK The Movie," the country with the highest cumulative moviegoers so far are Mexico, the United States, Turkey, Brazil, and Japan.

In addition, Mexico has been ranked within the Top 5 countries in Google search figures whenever new news about "BLACKPINK The Movie" is released, such as the release of trailers and the opening of ticket reservations since June 16 when the movie was confirmed to be released.

Also, "BLACKPINK The Movie" is expected to be released in theaters in some countries in Southeast Asia, such as Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia, where the release of the movie has been delayed due to the increase of COVID-19 cases and the restrictions implemented.

With the restrictions in the aforementioned countries easing, the release of the movie can be expected around the end of August.

In addition, the number of theaters screening the movie will be increase from around 3,000 to 4,200 theaters around the world.

As the cumulative number of moviegoers around the world has surpassed 500,000, movie reviews from different media outlets are increasing, and is also on the way to setting a new record for global box office success.

In fact, American singer Destiny Rogers, famous for her song "Tomboy" that garnered immense popularity following BLACKPINK's Lisa dance cover of the song, even revealed that she had watched the movie on her Twitter account, saying, "WHO'S SEEN THE @BLACKPINK MOVIE ????? I JUST SAW IT AND IM SO HAPPY FOR THEM ANFBJSBDSB."

Meanwhile, "BLACKPINK The Movie" features the four BLACKPINK members in a behind-the-scenes of the five years of their career, along with their fans - BLINKs.

The movie contains their live performances from their previous concerts and unaired special interviews. The movie is also part of their "4+1 PROJECT"," which is a celebration of their anniversary.
