SEVENTEEN Proves Influence After Winning the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award

In a statement, SEVENTEEN shared it's an honor to receive the meaningful and valuable award. They added that they will promote Hallyu more in the future.

The boy group continued that they will do their best to become the SEVENTEEN who has good influence on a lot of people, and hope that the Hallyu will prosper even more.

SEVENTEEN debuted in 2015 and rose to stardom steadily until they reach their "million-seller" status in 2020 with their EP "Heng:garæ." 

Particularly, they rose to the ranks of popular groups with their refreshing songs that are fit for summer, like "Pretty," "Very Nice," and "What's Up."

Their song, "Your Choice," released in June, sold over 1 million copies, making them "quadruple million sellers." Through this album, the SEVENTEEN album entered the U.S. Billboard's main album chart "Billboard 200" at No. 15 for the first time.

SEVENTEEN as the King of Performance

SEVENTEEN's biggest strength is the live stage. Before their debut, they performed in the practice room with only 30 people watching, and they established themselves as a "performing idol."

Recently, "Going Seventeen," a self-produced web entertainment show, enjoyed great popularity as it is nicknamed "Idol World Infinite Challenge," "Web Entertainment World Infinite Challenge," and "YouTube National Entertainment."

Meanwhile, a new album is to be released in October, and it is anticipated to break records once more.

On September 16, SEVENTEEN posted on their official SNS some photos announcing their upcoming YouTube channel live streaming on September 19.

On the other hand, "Going Seventeen" is scheduled for September 18.

Meanwhile, the Newsis Hallyu Expo, which began in 2019, is to confirm the status of Korean culture and encourage the growth of all related industries.

The Expo has been hosted with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and bolstered by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Korea Communications Commission and the Seoul Tourism Organization.

This year, the theme is "Wear Hallyu Digital." Strategies for success in Seoul's beauty industry and branding plans are being discussed, and looked at the competitiveness of K-Beauty.
