Kep1er recently concluded promotions for their debut single "WA DA DA" with several achievements, making them worthy of the title "monster rookies." The girl group's debut was well-received by the public, and all the members gained a huge fan base following the release.

Among the members, Kim Chaehyun — who is often called the "almost member of aespa" — has captured the hearts of both the public and Kep1ians. This is thanks to her amazing singing ability and her visuals that are reminiscent of Red Velvet's Irene. However, people are now debating whether Kim Chaehyun is suited for the center position in Kep1er.

Internet users have taken to social media and online community forums to discuss the matter. While many appreciate her vocals, some state that she does have the charisma or aura to be a center. Soon, people started comparing Kim Chaehyun to fellow Mnet girl group centers — Jeon Somi, who was the center of I.O.I, and IVE's Jang Wonyoung, who was the center of IZ*ONE.

Though Jang Wonyoung is often criticized for her vocal and dance skills, people agree that she deserves the center position in both IVE and IZ*ONE because of her star aura and how eye-catching her performance is.

Likewise, Jeon Somi, who served as the center of I.O.I, is also a prominent center that to her ability to attract the public's eye.

While Kim Chaehyun is beautiful, many agreed that she lacked the other two idols' star factor. Standing next to the Kep1er members, Kim Chaehyun is often overshadowed by Shen Xiaoting or Huening Bahiyyih. People state her visuals are not enough and that she needs to stand out and leave a deep impression to be a thriving center.

Others, however, claimed that "vibe checks" are subjective and depend on other people's feelings. It was also noted that Kim Chaehyun deserves the center since she won first place on "Girls Planet 999," meaning the audience selected her.

On February 4, it was reported that Mnet is in talks with Kep1er to compete on "Queendom 2." Shortly after, a representative for the program confirmed that they were meeting with different girl groups, but nothing has been finalized so far.
