NCT Lucas halt his activities in August 2021 after being embroiled in one of the most shocking controversies in the K-pop industry. A few unknown individuals who claimed to be his ex-girlfriends accused him of not only cheating on them but also gaslighting them and leeching off them.

Lucas has since apologized for his wrongdoings and stopped participating in any NCT activities and posting on social media.

After six months of hiatus, NCT Lucas is finally back on Instagram. He uploaded a black and white photo on Feb. 10 without a caption. The image shows an ocean with the sun from a distance.

As of writing, Lucas' Instagram post has garnered over 3.1 million likes, showing the large number of fans that are happy to see him post for the first time in so long.
With the NCT member's Instagram update, many fans wonder if he would rejoin his group soon and resume his activities. His last promotion was in March 2021 when WayV came back with their third EP "Kick Back."

Also, NCT Lucas was supposed to drop the single "Jalapeño" on Aug. 25 together with Hendery, however, the controversy involving him occurred a few days before the release. Hence, the single's release was postponed. Up until now, SM Entertainment has not given any update regarding the new schedule.
After Lucas updated his Instagram, fans took to Twitter to celebrate his return by trending multiple hashtags including "#LucasIsBack" "#WeLoveYouLucas" and "#WelcomeBackLucas."

While some fans welcomed his return to social media warmly, some were not happy about it. Many Korean netizens took to an online community to give their speculations why NCT Lucas chose this time to post on Instagram.
Some believe that he wanted to divert the attention of people to himself after aespa Ningning received hate comments for showing her support of the Chinese national short track skating team.

WayV's 2021-22 Activities Without Lucas
After Lucas went on an indefinite hiatus, his fellow WayV members remained active in the K-pop scene.
His bandmates took part in the promotion of NCT's third studio album "Universe," which arrived on Dec. 14 of last year. The group sang the English song "Miracle" for the album. Besides Lucas, Winwin was also unable to participate in the album as he is currently in China.
This past Jan. 17, WayV celebrated their third year as a group. All members except Lucas gathered to commemorate the event. They held a simple party and enjoyed food and drinks together.
WayV's Xiaojun, Hendery and Yangyang also continuously appeared on Discovery Channel Korea's "My K-Star Family" until its last episode that aired on Jan. 24.
