Jang Seohyun Named as 'Second IU' – Here's Why
The 18-year-old rookie singer Jang Seohyun drew attention after debuting as the "Second IU."
In particular, Jang Seohyun, on April 16, released her debut ballad song titled "Little Child" and was released on various music sites MelOn, Spotify and Bugs Music.
As soon as she debuted, she earned the nickname from K-media outlets like Namdo News, as well as music critics, as per Kim Jae Kwan, the CEO of Midas Entertainment, the agency of Jang.

Music critics reportedly described her voice as "pure" with a "charming atmosphere" and commended her "unique voice color."
Jang's singing and acting were also well-received by teachers from Hanlim Arts High School (the school where TWICE Tzuyu, Chaeyoung, LE SSERAFIM Chaewon, ASTRO Sanha, etc graduated).
In regards to the rookie's title, CEO Kim explained:
"Jang Seohyun's voice has a unique taste. It has an innocent and fascinating atmosphere. Some music critics have praised the tone by comparing it to IU, which is why she is being evaluated too much."
In particular, Seohyun through her debut track, "Little Child," expressed an authentic ballad song that depicts the fresh feelings of love of high school girls.
Just like IU, her voice sweet and calm and is pleasing to the ears. The rookie's song will remind you of IU's "Through the Night," while Jang's MV gives off the feelings from IU's "Good Day."
Aside from being a singer with high potential, Jang Seohyun, who is currently a third-year musical major at Hanlim Arts High School, is also known as an aspiring actress.
The CEO continued:
"I heard that school teachers are praising Seohyun, an aspiring actress for singing well but acting better. We will spare both physical and mental support for her to become a rookie singer who will draw attention in the music industry in the future."
In response, Jang Seohyun conveyed her thoughts on gaining her title, saying:
"It is nonsense to say that some people refer to me as the 'second IU.' It's disrespectful to be compared to IU sunbaenim."
"However, I'll take it as a compliment to work harder. I will work hard with a humble mind, so please give me a lot of attention and encouragement."
'Broker' Starring IU Selected as Competitor for 2022 Cannes Film Festival'
Meanwhile, IU, the OG "K-pop Representative Singer," proved that she's not only a top personality in the music scene, but is also shining in the acting field.
On April 15, Lee Ji Eun (IU's real name) will have her debut at Cannes through the 2022 much-anticipated film, "Broker" co-starring veteran actors Song Kang Ho and Kang Dong Won.
Lee Ji Eun, who received rave reviews as an actress in "My Mister" and "Hotel Del Luna" is expected to continue her career with this first feature film challenge.
The singer-songwriter and actress said:
"I was grateful that I could learn a lot throughout last spring when I filmed 'Broker' and I remember all my experiences being mysterious, but I'm even attending the Cannes Film Festival this spring, so I'm excited and looking forward to it again."
