Kim Choyeon in 2018: Mnet's 'Produce 48'
In 2018, Kim Choyeon's name became known by K-pop enthusiasts after joining Mnet's survival reality show, "Produce 48." The 17-year-old idol aspirant then entered the competition as a representative of A Team Entertainment.
During the show, Choyeon immediately drew viewers' attention due to her visuals, particularly her huge eyes called the "fire eyes."
Her fiery gaze became her trademark. On top of that, she was lauded by fans for her skills. Supporters of Choyeon praised her passion, hard work, and oozing confidence throughout the competition.
Unfortunately, she was eliminated in Episode 8 and finished in the show at #50.
Kim Choyeon in 2019 to 2021: ISE, Graduation, bugAboo Debut
After the competition, there was not much news about Kim Choyeon since she was still a trainee.
But in March 2019, it was revealed that she remained under the A Team and was selected to be a member of a pre-debut girl group ISE. The group was introduced at Miss Malaysia's 2019 pageant, where the group performed.
As a trainee, it was reported in 2020 that Kim Choyeon graduated from Hanlim Multi Arts High School in the Practical Music department.
After a year, Kim's much-awaited debut finally came. In September, she was revealed to be the first member to join the new girl group, bugAboo.
The group is comprised of six members, including Kim Choyeon. They officially debuted on October 25, 2021, with their single, "bugAboo."
In the group, Kim Choyeon plays the role of the leader, main dancer, lead vocalist, and lead rapper. She is loved for her charms and duality.
Despite her overflowing charisma on stage, she is known for being playful and loves to pull pranks. She earned the nickname "Meme Copy Machine" for her hidden talent of being able to copy memes.
She gained more recognition for her dance abilities, which is evident in their live performances.
Where is Kim Choyeon in 2022? bugAboo Drops Second Single Album 'Pop'
Following their debut in October last year, bugAboo made their first comeback with "Pop."
The announcement was made in May, when the group confirmed they were preparing for their comeback scheduled in June.
The second single album, "Pop," is comprised of two songs, including a title track with the same name and a b-sidetrack, "Easy Move." The album was officially dropped on June 13.
"POP," just like its name, is a song featuring the pop genre and contains an addictive beat that showcases bugAboo's powerful energy. This song will surely make listeners feel exhilarated, just like one feels after tasting the sweet yet thrilling pops of popping candy.
