5+ K-pop Idols Who Have Schools Named After Them: BTS V, EXO Kai, More
Every time a K-pop idol celebrates his or her birthday, their fanclubs in different countries tend to honor the occasion through the most unique and grandest ways. One of those is setting up a school in a particular town, province, or city in support of the children residing there. What makes that school more special is that it is named after the K-pop star. Below are seven K-pop idols who have schools named after them across rural China and Africa.

1. BTS V
Last December 2019, BTS V's Chinese fanbase, Baidu V Bar, donated 500,000 RMB to build a rural school, which will be named "Taehyung Hope Primary School." Taehyung is V's birth name.

The establishment was made through the renowned Project Hope, which aims to found schools in poverty-stricken rural areas in China and to aid children whose families can't provide them with complete elementary school education.
2. EXO Kai
EXO Kai is another K-pop idol who has a school in China named after him. His Chinese fan club, China Kim Jongin Bar, announced their plan to set up a school in a rural village in the mountains back in December 2018.
The school was named "Kim Jongin Hope Primary School," which is assumed to be in collaboration with China Youth Development Foundation's Project Hope as well.
3. BLACKPINK Lisa
In celebration of BLACKPINK Lisa's birthday in 2021, her Chinese fan club, LISABar, raised funds to build a primary school in Yunnan, China. This is to support and provide greater education and facilities to more than 900 students in the said province.

The primary school is named "Lixia Hope Primary School." In Chinese, Lixia (立夏) is pronounced similarly to Lisa, and in Spanish, it means "The beginning of summer."
4. TVXQ Yunho
While the schools on our list were solely established by fans, TVXQ Yunho contributed to the Yunho Education Center himself. The center is located in Bongo, Ghana and has been serving 200 students since 2015.
The male idol decided to join forces with the fans to make the school a reality after his visit to Ghana back in 2014 to film a charity TV show.
5. Girls' Generation YoonA
In honor of Girls' Generation YoonA's 28th birthday back in May 2018, her Chinese fansite, Yoonaya, collaborated with Project Hope to open a school named "Lim YoonA Hope Primary School" in the southwestern province of Yunnan, China.

The school started its operation in September of the same year. Even after the school was finished, fansite Yoonaya regularly donates learning materials to the students.
6. EXO Lay
While most of the idols on this list have one school established in their honor, EXO Lay has two.
The first one, Zhang Yixing Bar Primary School, was built in 2015, while the second one, Zhang Yixing Hope Primary School, was in 2016. Zhang Yixing is Lay's birth name. Both schools were donated by the EXO member's fan base XingPark.
7. Super Junior Members
Super Junior members have the same story as EXO Lay. Two schools were named after them but as a group.
Global ELFs teamed up with Build a School in Africa to finance the construction of two schools in the country. One school is situated in Tiogola and the other one is in Nimporodioula, both of which are villages in Mali and were opened in 2016.
