Despite his past controversy, why is he continuously making noise among K-pop fans, especially among people in their 40s?

Yong Junhyung Tops Rankify Idol Composer Trend Index and Beats BIGBANG G-Dragon

On the 14th, Rankify Korea released its latest analysis based on search terms and Google Trends data for its daily rankings, "Idol Composer Trend Index."

As a result, Yong Junhyung secured its spot at first place, with 9, 054 points, beating G-Dragon, who only earned 3, 812 points.

Despite his hiatus, the second-gen star surprisingly defeated the "King of K-pop," as well as other younger idols including MONSTA X I.M, Stray Kids Changbin & Han, Zico and more.

According to Rankify's individual analysis report based on gender and age, Yong Junhyung is most popular among female netizens in their 40s.

Looking at his trend index, 28% of his fans were males, while the majority of 72% were females.

If based on age, 8% of his fans were teenagers, 21% were in their 20s, 24% were in their 30s, 17% were in their 50s, while it was confirmed that he is popular among those people in their 40s, with a high-interest rate of 29%.

Why Is Yong Junhyung Showing Popularity These Days?

In particular, the Rankify chart is an indicator that allows people to intuitively understand the volatility of Yong Junhyung's popularity over time.

Rankify's analysis was based on big data, and the overall social interests and preferences of Yong Junhyung were closely identified.

As per the result, Yong Junhyung is gaining high attention these days due to its dating news with HyunA, past controversy as well and his past hit.

The related search terms that were linked to him include, "HyunA," "Burning Sun," "Jung Joon Young" "Yong Junhyung's composition" and "Sudden Shower."

On top of that, his name was also mentioned after his former group Highlight made its comeback on March 11.

In particular, Yong Juhyung originally established his fame as Highlight (formerly known as Beast) in 2009. At the time, he was massively loved for his idol skills, especially his top-tier ability as a composer.

Unfortunately, he would ruin his career after he was involved in the Burning Sun scandal in 2019. At the time, he admitted that he shared explicit videos of female victims with Jung Joon Young and exchanged scandalous messages.

After that, he left Highlight and started his solo career. Yong is particularly earning attention for continuously gaining support, even after causing a tremendous backlash for his group when the issue broke out.

Later in January 2024, his name made a buzz again after he confirmed a relationship with HyunA, who came from a six-year relationship with male idol Dawn which ended in 2022.
