Star Wars Episode 7 Casting Rumors: ‘Hunger Games’ Actress Jennifer Lawrence & ‘Star Trek’ Star Benedict Cumberbatch To Join The Sequel?

Star Wars Episode 7 casting rumors are popping every now and then with some actors seriously wanting to join the film and some just pretty much wanted to link their names on the film to gain some media attention.

"The Hunger Games" star earlier denied speculations that she would be joining the galactic world of "Star Wars" and leave the post-apocalyptic world of Panem.

The rumors all started when ScreenCrush expressed its interest on the star and suggested that the "Star Wars Episode 7" creators should consider her to play the lead role (young Han Solo), and yes you read it right the site wanted her to play an opposite sex role.

These speculations were soon responded to by the 23-year old star saying that, "I can't play a young Han Solo. That's awful," according to the Academy award winner actress during her interview with SlashFilm

Although she denied the rumors of being involved in the highly anticipated film, she did divulge that it is has always been her desire to "to play a man," the two-time "Hunger Games" star also insisted that whoever would be cast as Han Solo would "probably be male."

And when the writer told her that she has the "swagger and the charisma to do that kind of thing," she responded enthusiastically saying:

"Oh my God, that's awesome. Can I do that?"

Perhaps she could get a shot playing Han Solo's daughter instead?

While the thought of seeing Jennifer Lawrence striping off from her role on "The Hunger Games" as Katniss Everdeen and become Han Solo shatters, another actor is recently being linked to "Star Wars Episode 7" film.

The "Star Trek Into Darkness" and  "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" actor Benedict Cumberbatch was reportedly auditioned to play the role of Chewbacca on "Star Wars Episode 7."

During his interview with Conan O'Brien while promoting the recently release "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug," the 37-year old actor revealed his interest in playing the role of Chewbacca when O'Brien asked him about the starring in "Star Wars Episode 7."

Conan asked: "I heard that you very much would like to be in Star Wars and you're lobbying J.J. Is that true?"

"Yeah, it started with me with sort of...I just sort of would leave casual messages on his phone as a light saber. I thought he thought he was getting bad cell reception or something," Cumberbatch responded. "Then, I even went on a chat show and auditioned for Chewbacca. I sat next to Harrison Ford and did my audition."

Rumors that linked Cumberbatch in the film were already clarified by a rep of the actor who told New York Daily News: "There is no truth to the rumor Benedict has been cast in Star Wars. I think the rumors are circling because JJ and Benedict have just recently had a wonderful time working together on Star Trek."

While, the speculations regarding his connection with the Star Wars franchise were denounced already, Cumberbatch has always been very vocal in expressing his desire to get a part from the film:

"Of course I'd love to do Star Wars and work with JJ Abrams again because we had such a good time on Star Trek," Cumberbatch stated during the Toronto Film Festival. "But nobody has been cast and there are no offers out to anyone apart from the regulars who are returning. So that's that rumor quashed." Then he adds with a grin: "We'll have to wait and see."

Lucasfilm has yet to announce any official cast for "Star Wars Episode 7" movie, but according to reports the screenplay for the movie is expected to be finished in January and will soon go to production. Then, maybe that's the time we could expect them to release names who will be included in the film.
