G-Dragon & Taeyang Kick Off YG Hip-Hop Project With The Release Of 'Good Boy' Collaboration

Big Bang members G-Dragon and Taeyang have officially kicked off YG Entertainment's Hip-Hop Project with the release of their new single "Good Boy."

At midnight (KST) on November 21, the unit group GD X Taeyang revealed the music video for their highly anticipated new single as part one of their record label's new hip-hop project.

G-Dragon and Taeyang have long been friends, first as young trainees, then as members of YG Entertainment's wildly popular boy group Big Bang. Originally, G-Dragon (real name Kwon Ji Yong) and Taeyang (real name Dong Young Bae) were meant to debut as a duo, GDYB, but instead joined forces with the other singers, T.O.P, Daesung, and Seungri, to form Big Bang in 2006.

The latest release gives fans a glimpse at what the two can do on their own.

"Good trap beat, solid rapping, amazing vocals from Taeyang, and a sick dance break. What more do you people want," wrote YouTube user DK in the comments section for the official music video.

"They're back and better than ever," said user rainbowsandsunshine. "They're already on top of the charts, #1 on MelOn and I know they'll win a lot of music shows - can't wait!"

"Good Boy" is the work of mastermind G-Dragon, who was solely charged with the lyrics and arrangement for the new song. He was joined by American songwriting team The Fliptones and DJ-producer Freedo to compose the EDM hip-hop single.

The Fliptones, comprised of Chaz William Mishan and David Delazyn, previously worked with the K-Pop stars earlier this year for "Stay With Me" off Taeyang's second album Rise.

On November 13, YG Entertainment teased fans with the announcement of a company-wide Hip-Hop Project that would feature five artists in two releases. The first project was later revealed to be by G-Dragon and Taeyang to be unveiled on November 21. The second project is still unknown, but has the release date of December 2.

"Good Boy" is now available for purchase on iTunes. Check out the KpopStarz review of the song HERE.
