‘Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo’ starts a new love story in Episode 11
MBC romantic comedy drama “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” has started a new chapter in its last week’s episode 10. The love story between Bok-Joo and Joon-Hyung has begun.
According to official release from the MBC, the “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” Episode 11 will have a dating scene. The dating between the Bok-Joo and his two friends from Sun-Ok and Nan-Hee of the female weightlfting team and Joon-Hyung and Tae-Kwon from male swimming team. MBC also releases still image of the upcoming episode to be aired on Dec.21.
Bok-Joo and Joon-Hyung will officially date in the “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” Episode 11 according to Seoul Daily News. Although the drama does not obtain a good rating in Korea, but it has gained many attention from international fans. Up to now, the drama only averages 4.65 percent ratings in the TnMS and 4.4 percent in the AGB Nielsen.
The low ratings in Korea may come from two reasons. The first one is a very strong competition from “Legend of the Blue Sea” which casually gained more than 15 percent in its episode.
The second one is the courage of the production team to portray a beyond the mainstream depiction of a woman. “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” is considered to be very courageous to portray the leading lady as a weightlifter who doesn’t qualify as a common characteristic of beautiful woman in common point of view in Korea. However, Lee Sung-Kyung was able to immerse herself totally in her role as Bok-Joo and showcase her acting skill.
The male character, Nam Joo-Hyuk also plays well as the swimmer Joon-Hyung. They both create a good on-screen chemistry to portray a friend in the elementary school who reunited in the university. Aside from they are from the same agency, YG Entertainment, both Nam and Lee are good actors.
“Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” is an excellent drama portraying daily life of athletes, inspired by the real life of Korean Olympic gold-medalist and World champion female weightlifter Jang Mi-Ran. Watch the preview of “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” Episode 10 aired on Dec. 15 below:
