WJSN's Meiqi recently became entangled in a cheating controversy with a producer after his ex-girlfriend went to expose him. Meiqi's agency has released a statement regarding the issue.

WJSN Meiqi Entangled in Cheating Controversy with Music Producer

On October 26 KST, music producer Chen Ling Tao's ex-girlfriend recently stepped up to reveal that the cause of the end of her four-year long relationship with the producer is due to WJSN's, also known as Cosmic Girls, Meiqi.

Chen Ling Tao is said to be a music director for the Chinese reality survival show, "Produce Camp 101," in which Meiqi had appeared on before. He also reportedly participated in the production of Meiqi's recent album.

While the two were speculated to be dating, Yuehua Entertainment denied the rumors back in October.

On Weibo, Chen Ling Tao's ex-girlfriend published a lengthy post exposing the lies of the music producer, just days before their fourth anniversary. According to her, she had found out about his cheating back in July 2020, and saw his chat logs with Meiqi.

She also found out that the two were planning to meet at a hotel, and when the ex-girlfriend confronted him, they ended up fighting. As the days pass, she confesses to her declining mental state, and eventually returned to her hometown.

After her return to the city, it seemed that her relationship with Chen Ling Tao became better, however, he was once again spotted with Meiqi on a trip during his birthday.

The ex-girlfriend also revealed that Chen Ling Tao lied about breaking up with Meiqi, and that he had met up with the WJSN member at a hotel again.

Chen Ling Tao later compensated her 400,000 yuan (around $62,600 USD).

Yuehua Entertainment Releases Statement on WJSN Meiqi's Cheating Controversy 

Chen Ling Tao admitted to the cheating and released an apology through his Weibo. However, his apology made netizens worry as it seemed like a goodbye message. Close friends of the producer later checked up on him, and confirmed that he is safe.

Meiqi's label, Yuehua Entertainment, also released an official statement regarding the matter:

"Recently, there has been some netizens spreading rumors on various internet platforms regarding our artist Meng Meiqi, who they claim to have 'knowingly started a relationship with someone who is already in another relationship' and 'is the person that someone had cheated with.' They caused significant damage to our artist through methods such as the circulation of rumors and malicious speculations that hurt Meng Meiqi's reputation. We are making the following declaration:

1. Our artist, Meng Meiqi, did not know anything about Chen Ling Tao's personaL life, and has never interfered with anyone's relationships.

2. The chat logs that are being circulated on the internet are only screenshots from one side. Meng Meiqi is currently single.

We are strongly condemning the netizens who spread rumors and twisting the truth. We are reserving the right to take legal action. We hope everyone will focus on the artist's performances and works. Do not believe in rumors, do not spread rumors, and stop sharing false information. Let us create a healthy environment on the internet and spread positive energy."
