EDAM Entertainment Issue Additional Statement Regarding Claims That a Fan Received Special Gifts From an Employee
On an online community forum, one netizen had written a post, claiming that they had received special gifts from an employee of EDAM Entertainment. According to the netizen, they were given gifts such as a signed CD and special merchandise from a fan meeting event.
On January 5, EDAM Entertainment issued an additional statement following their response to claims of preferential treatment for IU's fans.
According to EDAM Entertainment, they conducted an investigation on the matter, and it was found that the netizen did not actually receive the merchandise as a special gift.
In addition, the netizen was discovered to be selling the items on a platform that sells secondhand items.
"We have checked the post that claimed that the writer received a fan meeting merchandise and a signed CD from an employee of our label. We have confirmed that none of our employees are acquaintances with the user, and that no one was given a merchandise or a signed CD," EDAM Entertainment said.
They explained that they conducted an internal investigation to gather the facts, and during the process, they found that the user had used the same photos used in the photos to sell items in a platform for secondhand items.

EDAM Entertainment had requested for the user to delete their post and had issued them a warning. "We have asked the user to delete the post and gave them a warning. They apologized and deleted the post. Our label gave them a warning as a first measurement. They will also deliver an apology to IU's fans," the label said.
The label also apologized for causing concern to fans and for being unable to make a separate statement regarding the issue.
"We will put forth more effort to become the EDAM Entertainment that can please the heart of fans. We bow our heads to apologize once again," the label concluded.
EDAM Entertainment Addresses Fan Preferential Treatment
On the same day, EDAM Entertainment had also released a statement regarding speculation of fan preferential treatment during the making of IU's documentary, and clarified that there was a misunderstanding.
They explained that a writer had contacted the fans for an interview to collect the necessary data needed for their meetings, but the writer withdrew during the documentary's production, and that information collected by the writer was not used.
