On February 4, it was reported by QQ that former EXO member Kris Wu has been in temporary detention for 180 days, starting from July 31, 2021. According to Chinese laws, if a person has been in temporary custody for more than five months, their chances of being sentenced to prison for no less than ten years is highly increased.

The male idol is struggling with life in prison, according to Chinese media SoHu. As Kris Wu was used to his carefree and wealthy lifestyle as a superstar, the sudden change to temporary detention was a jarring shift. It was also reported that the only people permitted to meet Kris Wu are his lawyers and the police.

Though he is not considered a dangerous criminal in the facility, Kris Wu is still kept in a separate room since he is a public figure. Due to his high status and the negative impact of his case, he is kept away from others in a separate room. However, he is still monitored strictly without any special treatment.

Kris Wu's Most Likely Final Prison Sentence
While Kris Wu was formally arrested on August 16, 2021, the case is still ongoing. QQ reported that Kris Wu would have to live behind bars for 17 years if the male idol is found guilty of all his cases, including rape of minors, administering drugs, sex trafficking and more.

In an interview with Chinese media Sina, Kris Wu's lawyer stated that if the investigation continues without any obstacles, Kris Wu will receive his final sentence in March 2022. Kris Wu will not appear in public and remain in police custody until then.

In July 2021, Kris Wu was accused by Chinese student Du Meizhu of sexual assault involving multiple women, with many being minors, while they were intoxicated and unconscious. She stated that she was raped by the Chinese star in December 2020 when she was 18 years old.

In addition, she claimed she spoke to at least seven other victims of Kris Wu, with two being minors during the times of their attacks.

Though Kris Wu denied the claims, the sex crimes were investigated by the Beijing Public Security Bureau. Multiple companies dropped him. The police detained him by the end of July 2021.
