NMIXX Sullyoon is Breaking JYP Entertainment's Visual Member Tradition

For over a decade, JYP Entertainment has been known as the company with the best eye in selecting female visuals for their groups. With that, the company has had a tradition for their visual members; all the visual members happen to be the maknae or the youngest member of the group.

However, this tradition will finally be broken when JYP Entertainment officially debuts NMIXX. Sullyoon, the member most likely to be given the visual position, was born in 2004.

While still young, she is not the maknae of the group. The maknae is actually Kyujin, who was born in 2006, making her two years younger than Sullyoon.

Though traditions will now be broken, people still admire the beauty of the visual-maknaes from JYP Entertainment's last four girl groups.

A Look Back at JYP Entertainment's Visual-Maknaes

Before JYP Entertainment added Hyelim to the Wonder Girls, Soohee was the original maknae of the group. In 2007, Sohee captivated the audience with her unique eye shape upon her debut. She is the first JYP Entertainment girl group member to be given the visual position.

In 2010, JYP Entertainment debuted miss A. Their maknae, Suzy, immediately garnered praise for heer sweet and pure beauty, earning the title of the "Nation's First Love." With her unrivaled visuals, Suzy's popularity was high the moment she debuted, and it did not take long for her fame to overshadow her members. To this day, Suzy is considered one of the industry's top beauties.

In 2015, JYP Entertainment debuted TWICE, a group formed through the survival show "SIXTEEN." Since her time on the survival show, Tzuyu was praised for her stunning visuals and was a crowd favorite, leading to her addition in TWICE. She debuted as the maknae and visual of TWICE and became worldwide famous for her beauty. In 2019, she was even named as the "World's Most Beautiful Face" by TC Candler.

ITZY debuted in 2019. Yuna, the group's maknae, continued the tradition of being the youngest member and the official visual. Upon debut, internet users praised JYP Entertainment for their keen eye for beauty. Only 16 years old at the time, Yuna impressed many with her stunning proportions, model-like height and actress-like beauty.

In February 2021, JYP Entertainment will debut NMIXX, a seven-member all-rounder girl group. Member Sullyoon has been praised for her visuals ever since she was first introduced. However, while people are happy to see a new visual in K-pop, many are sad to see JYP Entertainment's tradition of visual-maknaes come to an end.
