ITZY Yeji & aespa Karina Prove They're Ultimate Besties
On February 19, never-before-seen footage from the 2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMAs) was released on Japanese television. The footage followed BlooM the Sound — Stray Kids' Hyunjin, TXT's Yeonjun, ITZY Yeji, ENHYPEN Heeseung, ATEEZ's Wooyoung and aespa's Karina — as they rehearsed and filmed.

In the footage, viewers were treated to Karina and Yeji's adorable friendship!
Karina was seen approaching Yeji, happily announcing she was "here." Yeji immediately teased her friend, turning on her lightstick and chanting Karina's name like a passionate fan. She even claimed she was a MY (aespa's fanbase)!

During her interview, Karina claimed Yeji was her only celebrity friend. She confessed that having her on stage made her feel relieved. She then revealed that Karina and Yeji were saying that they should collaborate as a joke. Now that they are working together on stage, Karina thinks it would be good. However, she also expressed her desire to collaborate with Yeji again.

When the idols performed for BlooM the Sound, Karina and Yeji both appeared but did not interact directly. Instead, they performed solo dances. However, a week later, during KBS Gayo Daechukje, Yeji surprised fans by sharing photos with Karina to her Bubble account.

While many knew that the girls were friends, they were still surprised over how close they were when Yeji shared the photos.
Now, seeing the behind-the-scenes footage during MAMA 2021, people know that the two girls are incredibly close.
This is not the only time the duo has flaunted their friendship. In the past, Karina showed off a screenshot of a private conversation between her and Yeji.
There, they revealed that their nicknames "Kitty" and "Fury" were inspired by the two dragons from the animated film "How to Train Your Dragon."

ITZY & aespa's Close Friendship
It is not only Karina and Yeji who are close from aespa and ITZY. In fact, all the members of ITZY and aespa are close to each other!
Although the two groups are often pitted as rivals as fourth-generation girl groups, the members are known for being extremely close.

In June 2021, aespa shared photos to Twitter, thanking ITZY for buying drinks for them at the Dream Concert. Then, during the 2021 KBS Gayo Daechukje, aespa reciprocated the gift by giving ITZY sweets and tangerines. At the time, aespa's Giselle, Karina and Winter posed with ITZY's Yeji and Ryujin.

Ningning, Yuna and Chaeryeong were absent from the photo, with the members saying they were busying hanging out with each other to join the image.
