The members of the girl group and viral video sensation Crayon Pop claim to hate the helmets that brought them international fame.

In an appearance Tuesday on the South Korean cable talk show "Beatles Code 3D," Crayon Pop's Ellin explained why the group vastly prefers the look for their new single "Uh-ee," consisting of monochromatic handkerchiefs worn on their heads instead of the bulky headwear they sported in their breakout music video "Bar Bar Bar."

"The helmets were uncomfortable, so now, we feel really comfortable," she said.

"We were also greatly embarrassed by the helmets, but we aren't that embarrassed of the handkerchiefs.  We would sweat in the summer, so the helmets were cumbersome."

Crayon Pop continues to attract odd controversies, as the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) announced on Thursday that they would be banning "Uh-ee" because it contains the word "ppikka," meaning "shiny" in Japanese, according to the Wall Street Journal.

A spokesman for KBS reportedly confirmed that "Uh-ee" was banned for including a Japanese word.

"KBS notified us that 'ppikka' is a vestige of Japanese imperialism and needs to be refined," said Lee Sung-soo, spokesperson for Crayon Pop's label Chrome Entertainment.

Crayon Pop is reportedly rerecording the song without the offensive word.

As anyone familiar with Korean history knows, the country was colonized by Japan between 1905 and 1945. When Korea became an independent state following Japan's defeat in World War II, the country enacted a ban on Japanese music, movies and cartoons that remained in effect for over 50 years.

Though none of the other major Korean networks censored "Uh-ee," KBS executives are known for enforcing strict broadcast guidelines.

KBS banned Psy's "Gentleman" video last year, because network censors reportedly felt a scene in which the rapper kicked a traffic cone was an act of civil disobedience.
