Kim Hyun Joong Reportedly Faces $1.48 Million Damage Lawsuit From Pregnant Ex-Girlfriend

Kim Hyun Joong is reportedly facing a high-stakes legal battle against his pregnant ex-girlfriend to the tune of $1.6 million.

The ex-girlfriend, referred to in the media as Ms. Choi, is said to have filed a $1.48 million damage lawsuit against the actor-idol under claims that she suffered psychological harm while carrying his child, reports Soompi.

Kim Hyun Joong's legal representative, Lee Jae Man, confirmed the lawsuit.

"Earlier last month Ms. Choi sued Kim Hyun Joong for damages through the Seoul Central District Court," said Lee Jae Man. "We will respond after seeing how it pans out."

Kim Hyun Joong's management agency, KeyEast Entertainment, also confirmed the lawsuit, saying "The news about the suit is true. We have to talk to the legal representative."

The lawsuit is the latest development in what has been a rocky and contentious relationship in the past year between Kim Hyun Joong and Ms. Choi, who is pregnant and is expected to give birth in September.

Last year, Ms. Choi filed charges of assault against Kim Hyun Joong. The two settled the case outside of court, and the idol issued a public apology as well as paid indictment charges. All seemed well for a time with Kim Hyun Joong and Ms. Choi reported to have reunited following the assault case but the new lawsuit suggests otherwise.

Aside from the lawsuit, Kim Hyun Joong is facing rumors that he will be serving his mandatory military service starting May 12, a fact that may complicate the legal negotiations between the idol and Ms. Choi.
