BTS, EXO, and More: Several K-Pop Artists Make Twitter’s Most Tweeted About Musicians of 2020 in the United States List

Twitter just dropped a new Twitter survey, announcing who the top 10 most tweeted about musicians on the platform are in the year 2020 in the United States. Surprisingly, four K-pop groups were able to snag a spot on the list.

BTS is the Most Tweeted about Musician in the United States

BTS took home the top spot, beating out big powerhouse Western musicians Kanye West, Beyonce, and Drake. They are the group with the most mentions on the platform for 2020. This is their fourth year being named the most Tweeted about musicians in the United States. Back in 2019, the K-pop group beat out heavy hitters Justin Bieber, Billie Eilish, and Ariana Grande.

BTS was also named the most mentioned K-pop artist in the world in 2020, beating out NCT, EXO, and BLACKPINK for the title. Their all-English single, "Dynamite," was also the most-mentioned K-pop song on the platform. Their other songs, "ON," "Black Swan," and "Life Goes On," took home the second, third, and fourth spot, respectively.

ATEEZ, NCT, and EXO Also Made It to the Top 10

ATEEZ was the next K-pop group to make the list, ranking at number five. ATEEZ was also named the 10th most mentioned K-pop artist in the world in 2020. Currently, ATEEZ has over two million followers, and the group was named the third fastest-rising K-pop group in 2020. The boy group saw great success in 2020, releasing "Treasure Epilogue: Action to Answer" on Jan. 6 and "Zero: Fever Part 1" on Jul. 29.

NCT took home the sixth place spot. NCT was the second most mentioned K-pop act in the world in 2020, and their 23-member song "RESONANCE" was the sixth most mentioned K-pop song on the platform in 2020. Currently, NCT has over 5.7 million followers. 2020 was a big year for NCT; they debuted their large-scale project, NCT 2020, which featured all of the NCT sub-units, the already debuted 21 members, and the two newly debuted members.

The final group to make the top 10 is EXO. EXO was the third most mentioned K-pop act on the platform in 2020. This is quite a feat for a K-pop group that has not had a full-group comeback since 2018! Currently, the members are focusing on their solo endeavors. Suho and Chen are currently partaking in their mandatory military service, while Lay is busy with his solo career in China.

Baekhyun and Kai are busy as soloists and members of SuperM. D.O. has been cast in the film "Secret" and "The Moon." Sehun was cast in the film "The Pirates: Goblin Flag" and the drama "Dear Archimedes." Chanyeol was cast in the film "The Box." Xiumin has been active in the variety show scene, appearing on "Where is My Home" on Jan. 31, 2021.
