Lucas Leaves NCT & WayV, SM Entertainment Confirms Idol's Withdrawal
On May 10, SM Entertainment has released an official statement announcing Lucas' departure from both NCT and its sub-unit WayV.
In the statement, the company updated fans about Lucas. They revealed that after a thorough discussion with the idol, his departure from both groups have been decided, and will continue to promote individually.
SM Entertainment also asked for everyone's support and understanding about the sudden occurrence, since both parties have reached a mutual agreement.
The agency then encouraged fans to give their unrelenting love and care for Lucas, who will now be continuing his career as a soloist. As for his affiliation with ensemble SuperM, the group hasn't released a statement regarding the idol's membership.

Their statement is as follows:
"We have an announcement to share with you regarding Lucas' future plans.
After our deliberate discussion with Lucas, we concluded a mutual decision for him to part ways with the groups NCT, as well as WayV, in order to chase his individual endeavors.
Moreover, we ask for your understanding and unconditional support, since this decision came from careful consideration of both members and their fans.
From now on, Lucas is planning to showcase his performances through a variety of solo activities. Once again, we appreciate fans' love and support, as we ask you for your continuous interest for Lucas in the future.

NCT Lucas Shares Thoughts on Departure in Open Letter
Following SM Entertainment's announcement, Lucas took his thoughts to Instagram, where he uploaded a letter addressing the situation.
The idol went to share his inner feelings to fans, threading on the decision to leave, his gratefulness to the members, and openness to his new chapter.

"Hello. This is Lucas.
I have an important announcement to share with you today. After an in-depth reflection and consideration, I've made the difficult decision to leave NCT and WayV. I send my deepest apologies to the members, due to leaving behind a strong friendship.
It has been nearly 8 years since I joined them, and I am grateful for their support. I will never forget the memories I made with them, since I'll cherish it with all my heart. Instead of being Lucas, I hope they remember me as Huang Xuxi. I sincerely love them and likewise, will also give my unwavering support.
I believe the decision to leave was the right one, after a long while of contemplating. I also must face my fans with bravery since they're also looking forward to my future solo endeavors. I will continue to offer exceptional performances to repay them.
I want to convey my heartfelt gratitude, to everyone who supported me."
