CUBE Entertainment's new girl group LIGHTSUM has confirmed their comeback with a new single!
On Sept. 23 at midnight KST, the rookie group shared an unexpected teaser that seemed to be hinting at their return. The image features a music sheet with a few notes and the words "Welcome to Lightsum World." The photo comes with the caption "Coming Soon."
LIGHTSUM Comeback Date with a New Single Announced
On Sept. 24, CUBE Entertainment's new girl group uploaded a new teaser image, officially announcing their first-ever comeback since their debut.
The blue-colored teaser image features an illustration of what appears to be a luxury place. According to the poster, LIGHTSUM will release their second single, entitled "Light a Wish," in October.
"Light a Wish" will be the band's second release following their debut song "Vanilla," which was dropped in June of this year.
LIGHTSUM's new single "Light a Wish" will be digitally released on Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. KST, while the physical version is due out on Oct. 14.

LIGHTSUM's Achievements with "Vanilla"
In the first week since its release, LIGHTSUM's "Vanilla" sold more than 19,000 copies on the Hanteo Chart, breaking the record for first-week sales of a new girl group that debuted this 2021.
In just five days, "Vanilla" becomes the best-selling album by a 2021 rookie girl group on Hanteo in the first week. It recorded a total of 14,184 copies from June 10 to 14.
As of June, LIGHTSUM's "Vanilla" surpassed 28,000 copies sold on the Hanteo Chart, becoming the only album by a 2021 rookie girl group to reach the mark, so far.
LIGHTSUM's debut single album has also become the first album by a new K-pop girl group that debuted this 2021 to sell 35,000 copies on Hanteo.
LIGHTSUM's "Vanilla" also ranked inside the Top 10 on iTunes charts in 10 countries. Also, the album's title track, also called "Vanilla," ranked No. 52 on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart, making LIGHTSUM the first 2021 rookie group to debut on the chart.
LIGHTSUM's "Vanilla" also landed atop the real-time chart of Rakuten Music, becoming the only song by a 2021 rookie group to hit No. 1 on the chart, to date.

The new idol group is composed of eight members, namely Yujeong, Sangah, Chowon, Jian, Hina, Juhyeon, Nayoung, and Huiyeon. Juhyeon acts as the leader of the band.
Some of the LIGHTSUM members were former participants of "Produce 48," particularly Chowon, Nayoung, and Yujeong. Meanwhile, Juhyeon competed in "The Unit."
The name of CUBE Entertainment's new girl group means that bright "LIGHTs" will merge as one "SUM" to connect to people around the world and will transform into a group that will bring positive energy to everyone through their songs containing a message of hope.
