These are the Top 10 Most Popular K-Pop Idols for the Month of January

On Saturday, Jan. 30, the Korean Business Research Institute released their brand reputation rankings for individual idols for January. Want to know who made the top 10? Then keep on reading to learn more.

The rankings were determined by analyzing an idol's consumer participation, media attention, interaction, and community awareness. They were able to do so by analyzing big data collected from Dec. 30 to Jan. 30.

10. BTS's RM

RM, who was formerly known as Rap Monster, is the leader and main rapper of BTS. In 2020, the idol remained to focus on his work with BTS but did dabble in some solo activities. On Jan. 6, 2020, he featured on Younha's song "Winter Flower." In Dec. 2020, RM was named one of the 10 2020 Patron of the Arts by the Arts Council of Korea.

9. ASTRO's Cha Eunwoo

Cha Eunwoo is the vocalist, visual, and the face of ASTRO. Besides his activities with ASTRO, Cha Eunwoo is also active as an actor. Currently, he stars as Lee Su Ho in the tvN drama "True Beauty," based on the webtoon of the same title. In the drama, Lee Su Ho is a "perfect" boy with no interest in others.

8. TVXQ's Yunho

Yunho, who goes by U-Know or U-Know Yunho, is the leader, main rapper, main dancer, and center of TVXQ. Yunho is also active as a soloist and as an actor. On Jan. 18, 2021, Yunho made his much-anticipated solo comeback with the mini-album "Noir," which includes the title track "Thank U."

7. Kang Daniel

Kang Daniel is a former Wanna One member and active soloist. Kang Daniel is also the founder of his own entertainment agency, Konnect Entertainment. Though 2021 has just started, the idol is already getting himself busy. On Jan. 15, 2021, Kang Daniel featured on American singer Inverness's song "State of Wonder," alongside Anthony Russo. He will also be releasing a 10-episode original series titled "Agent Balckjack K" through Universe.

6. BTS's Suga

Suga is the lead rapper of BTS. Besides his activities with BTS, Suga is active as a soloist under the alias Agust D. In 2020, Suga released his second solo mixtape, "D-2," with the title track "Daechwita." "Daechwita" peaked at number 76 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and number 11 on the Billboard 200 chart, making "D-2" the highest-charting album by a Korean soloist.

5. BTS's Jin

Jin is the sub-vocalist and visual of BTS. Besides his activities with BTS, Jin had also released solo music in 2020. A day before his 28th birthday (Dec. 3, 2020), Jin released the song "Abyss," which he composed alongside fellow BTS member RM and producers BUMZU and Pdogg. Jin, RM, and BUMZU also wrote the lyrics.

4. BTS's Jungkook

Jungkook is the main vocalist, lead dancer, sub-rapper, center, and maknae of BTS. In 2020, Jungkook too released solo music. He released the song "Still With You" on Jun. 4, 2020, as part of BTS's annual debut celebration. In 2020, Jungkook was named the most-searched K-pop idol on Google.

3. BTS's V

V is the lead dancer, sub-vocalist, and visual of BTS. V has also debuted as an actor. Last year, 2020, V released the song "Sweet Night" as part of the soundtrack of the JTBC drama "Itaewon Class." The song, which is sung entirely in English, was produced, written, and sung by V. "Sweet Night" debuted at the number two spot on the Billboard U.S. Digital Song Sales Chart. On Dec. 25, 2020, Christmas Day, V released the song "Snow Flower" with Peakboy.

2. BLACKPINK's Jennie

The only female idol to make it within the top 10! Jennie is the main rapper and lead vocalist of BLACKPINK. In 2020, Jennie was busy with her promotions as a BLACKPINK member. She surprised people when it was revealed she (alongside fellow member Jisoo) co-write the song "Lovesick Girls," which is the title track of BLACKPINK's first full-length album, "THE ALBUM."

1. BTS's Jimin

Sitting at number one is Jimin, the main dancer and lead vocalist of BTS. A day before Christmas, Dec. 24, 2020, Jimin released the song "Christmas Love" through the group's official SoundCloud page. "Christmas Love" talks about Jimin's childhood memories during the holiday season.
