CUBE Entertainment to Not Include Soojin in (G)I-DLE's New Song

According to an exclusive report released by Herald Pop, (G)I-DLE's upcoming song "Last Dance (Prod. GroovyRoom)" will be devoid of anything related to Soojin. The song will be released by the end of this month, Apr. 2021, as a special song for the K-pop fan platform UNIVERSE.

The song was recorded back in Feb. 2021. The music video and any additional content were all filmed that same month. However, allegations against Soojin concerning school bullying and violence surfaced on Mar. 2021, and CUBE Entertainment soon announced that (G)I-DLE would operate as a five-member girl group.

UNIVERSErevealed that they discussed how to push through with CUBE Entertainment, as the song was already recorded and the music video was filmed. It was decided that it would be difficult to fully produce new content for UNIVERSE after taking into account the contractual relationship the parties have with distributors, partners and the potential tangible and intangible losses.

They then decided to modify the composition and lyrics of "Last Dance (Prod. GroovyRoom)," and the active five members of (G)-IDLE has redistributed the lines and re-recorded the songs. Other contents, such as the pictorial and behind-the-scenes videos, will be edited to show only the five members of (G)-IDLE to the best of the editing team's abilities.

The music video will also be re-edited to minimize Soojin's appearance in the video. They are unable to refilm the music video due to monetary reasons, as well as production staff that comes from several partner companies.

UNIVERSE has stated that they will work hard to provide the fans better content.

In response to UNIVERSE's position on the matter, CUBE Entertainment stated that it would be difficult to share their stance on (G)I-DLE's new song and Soojin's participation.

The School Bullying Allegations Against (G)I-DLE's Soojin

Back in Feb. 2021, (G)I-DLE Soojin was accused of bullying her peers, dressing inappropriately at school, stealing people's money and uniform, hanging out with older men, smoking, and drinking underage. The user who first accused the "LION" singer claimed that Soojin had slapped her younger sister and instigated bullying through group chats.

The controversy grew after Seo Shin Ae shared a cryptic Instagram post after the rumors started making their rounds. People speculated that Seo Shin Ae was a victim of Soojin's bullying.

Soojin released a letter to her fans, acknowledging claims that she dressed inappropriately and smoking, but denied all other accusations made against her.

Soojin has since been accused of being a leader of a bully/iljin group. Seo Shin Ae continued to hint at the bullying, further strengthening the accusations that Soojin bullied the actress.

Soojin then released a second detailed letter, countering all the bullying claims made against her and urging Seo Shin Ae to release a statement on the matter, stating that she had never spoken to Seo Shin Ae and she is innocent.

Seo Shin Ae then released a statement through Instagram, saying she was bullied severely by Soojin. She acknowledges that she has never spoken to Soojin because Soojin one-sidedly verbally abused her.

Soojin has since remained silent, with no further statements issued.
